Mercer writes new patriotic song for today’s generations

In November 2017, Elmo Mercer found inspiration for a new song , so he started penning the words as fast as he could write them down. He felt that he was an instrument in God’s hands!

The song is titled, “I Stand For The Anthem [But I Bow My Knee to God]”. It is a timely message that honors both our country and our Lord. With all the recent protests during the US national anthem, Mercer felt this was a powerful message to share. Even though it’s a patriotic song, it can be sung any time of the year.

In a recording studio, full orchestration was added to the lyrics — brass, woodwinds, strings, guitars, bass, drums and even some harp! Mercer arranged it so it can be sung multiple ways: as a solo, or with a quartet or even full choir or quartet.

This new patriotic song will be released soon on a CD, with solo and orchestration tracks, plus an accompaniment soundtrack with background vocals included. Also being added to this CD is a new recording of one of Elmo Mercer’s classic songs, “These Are The Blessings [I Call Mine]”.
